AWWDIO privacy policy
Last updated 23 October 2026
AWWDIO has no account and no server. Your voice notes, transcripts, people, events, photos and diary recordings are stored on your phone and are not sent to us. We do not use adverts, analytics or tracking tools in the app.
Who we are
AWWDIO is made by Web Studio Lab Limited, company no. 09110103, registered in England and Wales at 71 to 75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ. Our ICO registration number is ZB021715. You can contact us at awwdio@webstudiolab.co.uk.
What stays on your phone
Voice notes you share into the app, the transcripts made from them, names and photos you add for people and events, recordings you make in the app, and your settings. You can export all of it, or delete it, at any time.
Permissions the app asks for
- Speech recognition
- To write down what is said, using Apple's speech engine on your phone. Your phone may download language files from Apple to do this. Your recordings are not sent to us.
- Microphone
- Only when you record in the app, such as a diary entry.
- Notifications
- For memories and reminders you choose.
- Photos
- Only the photos you pick for a person or event.
- Face ID
- To lock the voice diary if you turn the lock on. The app never sees your face data.
Translation
Translating a transcript uses Apple's translation on your phone. Translations are not stored.
Your phone's own backups
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or to a computer, your AWWDIO voices are included in that backup like the rest of your phone. That backup is between you and Apple. We cannot see it.
When you contact us
If you email us, including a missing clip report, we receive whatever you choose to send and your email address. We use it only to answer you and fix the problem, and delete it once it is no longer needed.
When you share
If you share a voice or a highlight to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or anywhere else, you send it yourself and that service's own privacy policy applies. AWWDIO never posts for you.
Other people's voices
Voice notes contain other people. Please only save and share voices where you are comfortable the person would be happy for you to.
Children
AWWDIO is meant for people aged 13 and over.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because the app keeps your data on your phone, in practice we only hold emails you have sent us. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
This website
This page is part of webstudiolab.co.uk, which uses Google Analytics to count visits. That applies to the website only, never to the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and say what changed in the app's release notes.
